Our mission is to support sustainable development and create a competitive environment for Indian industries. Through strategic partnerships, advocacy, and skill-building initiatives, we aim to enhance trade relations and help industries grow both domestically and internationally.  Introduction

Council for Industrial and Trade Development (India) known in short as CITD (India) is a unique industrial and trade development council set up in 1970’s is a government recognized organization whose direct membership extends to over 1400 organizations, firms, industries, trade and business establishments, covering both the public & private sector. The council is a non-trading, non-political & not for profit voluntary organization recognized and registered both at International & National level. It was established with the sole motto of extending necessary advisory and moral support and encouragement to the country’s industrial and trade sectors which are the key sector of the present day economy of our country and drivers of progress and prosperity.International trade imbalance required new thinking and new global partnership. Shrinking domestic market and expanding trade opportunities world wild required many business to embark on global marketing in order to remain competitive, add value and lead India to leading position in the 21st century

        That can only be accomplished by developing new strategies, learning new languages, one-on-one technical assistance, consulting marketing research and complying with new regulations to develop long term global partnership & expand trade opportunities both locally & globally. With this objective, the council it’s actively spreading productive and innovation consciousness in all spheres of economic activity in general and the industrial sector in particular.   It interacts very closely with industries an all India basis and established its unassailable position with the country’s industrial sector as a progressive and proactive organization bringing about much need change to suit the changing scenario. Interalia the council has always adopted a pragmatic approach, to assist increasing India’s industrial efficiency and competitiveness in the area of quality, productivity, energy conservation and environment protection. It would suffice to say that the council aim to provide a common platform for individuals & organizations interested in promoting rapid industrialization of the country on sound progressive & healthy lines.It is indeed our good fortune & proud privilege that the council’s first Silver jubilee Inaugural Function was graced & blessed by our most beloved President Dr.Shankar Dayal Sharma ji, H.E. the President of India at Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi on 13th January 1997.

TRADE MISSION:

Each year, industries, institutions, and organizations from across India and around the world participate in CITD’s organized trade missions. These missions provide a unique platform for participants to connect with potential business partners, discuss market dynamics, and gain insights into local business environments and cultural practices. Through structured one-on-one meetings, participants explore various business opportunities, from joint ventures and collaborations to direct trade agreements. The council offers dedicated support, assisting companies and industries in identifying the right partners, understanding regulatory requirements, and navigating market entry challenges. By facilitating these connections, CITD plays a pivotal role in fostering lasting and successful business relationships.”

AIMS & OBJECTS:

The council aims at progress and prosperity of industrial sector apart from generating sincere working spirit and a healthy economic background in the industrial sector.

  • It intends to mobilize the industrial performance to a common platform for united action for the progress of the nation.
  • To build a strong economy by appreciating and thereby encouraging the industries of all types as the industries are the back-bone of the present economic viability of the nation.
  • To safeguard the interest of the industrial sector and promote its interest.
  • To assist and encourage all those organizations which contribute to a strong nation building.
  • To help the industrialists to bring about development and to provide the industries as well as its other members with information on current policies, the council keeps itself busy in various activities like holding discussions on important industrial matters through several for a like seminar, discussions and conference & meets.
  • To appreciate and recognize the true services of entrepreneurs and industrialists by honoring them with Awards, Mementoes, Gold Medals and certificates, which are given on national level.
  • To generate employment opportunities to the trained ones as also the untrained ones.
  • To provide a dynamic spirit among the business community for maintaining the internal supply position for essential commodities.
  • To maintain a harmonious relationship between the workers and the employees by negotiation.
  • To promote and safeguard the interest of the entrepreneurs for proper and smooth functioning of trade, commerce and industries in the country.
  • To council aims at creation of healthy economic growth by creating an atmosphere congenial for it apart from checking inflation, by contributing to industrial growth foe which the council intends to establish rapport between various. Government agencies and the industrial sector. In this connection the council has chalked out his own program and intends to co-operate for any such planning that has been arrived at.
  • Inter-alia, the council stands to conduct surveys and support intense research activities to find out a solution to the multifarious industrial problems and thereby ensuring a stable economy.
  • For the benefits of the up-coming units and fresh entrepreneurs the council envisages various training programs at grass- root level as also at subsequent levels. Besides it intends to range for various consultancy programs.
  • The last but not the least object of the council is to assist and guide all the voluntary organization in the endeavor to contribute their mite to industrial development and overall development of the nation.
  • In conclusion it may be emphasized that the mission and the motto of the council is to bring closer co-operation and rapport between the masses and the industrialist by bringing forth their contribution in the industrial sector and conferring awards on them

Income Clause:

The income earned by the Council and the properties movable and immovable shall be solely utilized towards promoting the aims and the objects and for the betterment of the Council. No member of the Council shall have any personal claim on any properties of the Council or on any portion of the income earned in the form of profit and bonus or in any manner what so ever by virtue of his membership.

The members also have to bear their own expenditure incurred on the day of the function 

The expenditure of the Nominees in exhibiting their products on the day of the Function

Expenditure of the advertisement published in different newspapers on the day of the function, etc.

SELECTION OF AWARDS:-

Role of Jury & the Council:-

          The Council provides the entire organizational and professional   support in administering the selection process. It is responsible for designing the questionnaire and widely circulating the questionnaire among the organizations, receiving and analyzing the data as well as placing the result before the jury specially constituted for each category.

          A separate expert committee cum jury is constituted for each industrial category. The committee comprises of eminent personalities from various walks of life like eminent Indian

Industrialists, Research & Professional Institutions etc. the expert committee cum jury for each category / group on the basis of the basic data and the analysis presented to them, decide the best entry for the award.

     The criteria of award instituted by the selection board, are the parameters like Growth percentage, Low cost production, manufacturing, Improvements, Areas of quality, Quantity, Export performance, Import substitution, R&D efforts, Innovations, Technological adaptations, Exemplary services & contributions to Indian industrial sectors.

         Although the particulars filed by nominees under their signature and seal of their firm are sufficient to arrive at a decision as to the conferment of awards on them, but in certain doubtful cases and in cases where the final selection committee feels it necessary to have further information it may adopt the following procedures

Call for more details or the information on any item to support their case.

In cases not accompanied by test certificates or standard certification like ISO 9000, it may call for samples.

     The members of the advisory board of the final selection committee may visit the industries to adjudge the performance.The Council provides comprehensive organizational and professional support throughout the selection process, taking responsibility for designing a detailed questionnaire and ensuring its widespread circulation across targeted organizations. It meticulously manages the collection, collation, and thorough analysis of responses, ultimately presenting the findings to a specially designated jury for each award category.

For each industrial sector, a dedicated expert committee and jury are constituted, comprising distinguished professionals and thought leaders from various fields, including prominent Indian industrialists, academic and research experts, and representatives from professional institutions. This esteemed committee rigorously reviews all data and analyses, exercising impartial judgment to identify the most deserving candidates for recognition in each category.

The award criteria established by the selection board incorporate a range of performance indicators and parameters, including growth rate, cost-effective production methodologies, manufacturing efficiency, quality enhancements, output volume, export performance, import substitution efforts, research and development (R&D) contributions, pioneering innovations, technological advancements, and exemplary contributions to the Indian industrial sector.

The Council relies on the documented information submitted by nominees, verified under their signature and official company seal, to make award determinations. However, in certain complex or exceptional cases where additional validation is warranted, the Council may implement the following procedures:

  • Request supplementary data or evidence supporting the nominee’s qualifications in specific areas.
  • Call for additional documents or certifications, such as ISO 9000 standards, particularly in cases where test certificates are not provided.
  • Request product samples for review, especially where quality assurance certifications are missing.
  • Arrange site visits by advisory board members or the final selection committee to conduct firsthand evaluations and assess the industrial performance of nominees.

Through this comprehensive, multi-step evaluation process, the Council ensures that the awards reflect not only industry excellence but also a commitment to innovation, sustainable growth, and contributions to India’s economic and industrial advancement.

     The CITD award winner is guaranteed a number of benefits which Inter-alia includes wide publicity of their products through mass media. It may not be out of place to mention here that the awardees are permitted to display boldly a mention of the award on the labels of their product put for marketing by them. The awardees can make use of their award photographs or Logo for their purpose of advertisement of the product. A complete Video, T.V. and Radio coverage, apart from news coverage in leading National and Regional Dailies will be provided.

Trade Events & Conferences:-

            During the 40 years, besides celebrating its first silver jubilee, the council has conducted many prestigious & memorable events. Like CITD GEMS OF HYDERABAD AWARDS in connection with 400 years celebrations of Hyderabad where all the intellectuals from various walks of life including Bureaucrats, Doctors, Industrialists, Educationists, Astronauts, Defence, Print & Electronic media, Poets,& Eminent film Actors from Hyderabad were honored for their services & contribution to the country. Many books of literary values on the city of Hyderabad were released on this occasion.

       We celebrated 50 years of Indian Independence in the most befitting Way. The industrial promotion conference was inaugurated by Dr.C.Rangarajan then Governor of Andhra Pradesh & special awards namely INDEPENDENCE GAURAV AWARDS were conferred to selected industries all over India. CITD had also honored the eminent personalities with INDRA GANDHI NATIONAL UNITY AWARDS for their meritorious contributions in the for the peace & prosperity of the country

         The Council’s All India Industrial promotion Conference of the Millennium was inaugurated by Shri.N.Chandra Babu Naidu, the former chief minister of A.P. The Council’s Millennium celebrate theme was TRANSFORMING INDIA TO WORLD CLASS EXCELLENCE in the context of globalization. In the wake of rapid liberalization, there a need of wide dispersal of benefits.“HOW THE COMMON MAN CAN BE BENEFIT” was another theme of the celebration.

         The council has conducts various activities like Conferences, SeminarsSymposia, Workshops, & Discussion Meets besides organizing All India Industrial Trade Fairs. The 30th CITD Industrial Trade Festivals in celebrations of completion of its 30 years was inaugurated by Shri.Surjit Singh Barnala, H.E.the Governor of A.P.

          The council has owes to its credit 20 seminars & symposia and 10 trade fairs which were held in various parts of the country like Bangalore, Chennai, Ahmedabad, & Mumbai. The council had organized the All India Industrial & Trade Achiever’s Conference at Hyderabad in which selected eminent Scientists from CCMB, BRAHAMOS AEROSPACE, DRDO etc, were honored by Shri.Rameshwar Thakur, then the governor of A.P. and also events like NATIONAL GAURAV ACHIVERS AWARDS was grace by Dr.K.Rosaiah H.E. the Governor of Tamil Nadu,

            CITD had also held events like CITD NATIONAL NAVRATNA UDYOGSHREE AWARDS at Hyderabad which was graced by Shri.N.Manohar Hon’ble Speaker of A.P. Legislative Assembly & Shri.Ponnala Lakshamaiah Hon’ble Minister Govt. of A.P. The council has also had the privilege to have Smt.Katherine Dhanani H.E Consul General of UNITED STATES OF AMERICA at the Festive Season event.  CITD also had the privilege to participate in the present economic world scenario by organizing the CITD GLOBAL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AWARDS present by Shri.Sarvey Sathyanarayana Hon’ble Minister Govt. of India. CITD’S first event in the Telangana State was grace by Shri.Mohd. Mahmood Ali Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of Telangana State
